Item Description
Cylindrite is a rare sulfosalt named after the unique cylindrical form of the crystals, which are extended on the c-axis and LOOK LIKE CYLINDERS (even though technically they are not, according to crystallographers if not to my eyeball). This superb specimen is richly covered on all four sides with much larger and thicker than normal, metallic-bright cylinders and hails from the much less well-known Trinacria Mine of Bolivia. This mine was famous as the most abundant producer of cylindrite specimens during the first half of the 20th century, with cylinders thicker than those from the nearby Type Locality, the Santa Cruz Mine. Ex Dennis Mullane Collection and comes with a 1950s or 60s Burminco label.
