Item Description
A superb, old-time, CABINET, copper specimen from the famous Cliff Mine. This is from the well known copper suite of michigan collector Bob Nowakiowski, to me in exchange. The amazing, 3.7 cm wide, fan of iridescent, incredibly sharp, tetrahexahedral, copper crystals jauntily perched atop the solidly crystallized, two-sided specimen dominates this dramatic piece. Yes, it is a floater, complete all around! Tetrahexahedrons abound on the body of this specimen, which also includes RARE cubic crystals and some spinel-twins. This is classic, old-time Copper Country material, as the Cliff Mine closed in 1887 - although admittedly some specimens came out since from colelctors and off the dumps. This does have a nice old patina, to it, and has not been acid cleaned. Certainly one of the very finest Michigan coppers we have offered at auction, coppers of this rare quality are normally reserved for the Gallery. However, occasionally, we give our auction customers an opportunity to obtain an such epitomes of Michigan copper specimens if I can get them in exchange and afford the risk here. Ex Robert Nowakowski Collection. Valued at $2500.
