Item Description

The sculptural sylvanite crystal clusters rest on a sparkly drusy quartz covered matrix. Ex George Kunz Collection, a renowned gemologist, collector and author, who died in 1932. This is a VERY large and rich specimen, probably from the 1800s if not the early 1900s, from the most classic US locale. The Kunz label "K" is still on the back of the piece. The splendent, golden bright, platy sylvanite crystals have nearly overwhelmed the camera with their brightness on this richly covered and highly desirable example from the famous mines at Cripple Creek. It is better in person by far, showing characteristic patterning of the species. valued $500-1000
