Item Description

Sharp tetrahexahedral crystals with a beautiful coppery patina comprise this sculptural and classic old-timer from Copper Country. The well-placed, 1.5 cm, compound crystal at the top and the cavernous crystal in the front really add pizzazz to this fine copper. T.F. Cole (1862-1939) was a prominent Michigan and Minnesota mining man with an interesting history. Born at the Cliff Mine, he started working at the Phoenix Mine at age 8 in the rock house. He advanced, in around 1900, to become general superintendent of the Oliver Iron Mining Company's interests in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the state of Minnesota, consisting of over 30 iron mines! Ex Cal Tech Collection and Herb Obodda dealer stock. Choice material. Valued at $1200-1500.
