Item Description

A dramatic and colorful large fluorite and calcite combination from this famous Asturias mine. Classic for the locale, gem, very glassy, golden-yellow fluorite cubes are artistically framed by the glassy, translucent, colorless, calcite rhombs on this very sculptural piece. It is pristine, and the quality you would expect of a miniature but writ large! The string of calcite crystals coursing across the fluorites and the "finger" of fluorites cloaked by the calcites add real pizzazz to this outstanding large combination from the Raul Sanabria Collection. The rich coverage of calcite crystals on two sides flanking the fluorites has an interesting preferential secondary overgrowth of tiny barite blades and barite crusts. White fluorite and pink calcite fluorescence. This striking piece has several fine display views - honestly, from ANY angle. 5.5 pounds or 2.5 kilos mass, so you see it is not small! Valued at $2000-2500, this was one of the finer pieces of the culling/deaccession from the noted Spanish mineral collection of Dr. Raul Sanabria.
