Superb Hornblende on Microcline w/ Apatite (dated 1952!)

A fantastic, sharp, stout and pristine CURVED hornblende crystal from the famous Bancroft area locale. The stunning 6.5 x 5.7 x 3.5 cm crystal is dramatically set on the very sculptural large matrix of stacked sharp, lustrous, terminated microcline crystals. Outstanding accessories are the sharp and classic 2.1 cm yellow-green apatite crystal, granular apatite filling the crevasse in the large hornblende and the 3.3 cm terminated hornblende crystal on the right side. Prism faces on the hornblendes are highly lustrous to moderately lustrous, adding even more pizzazz. The composition and form of this large hornblende combination is simply remarkable. This is superb and VERY RARE style old-time hornblende combination. It comes with a 21.3 cm-big old paper label with a 1952 date!! Valued at $1500, I would think at a guess - hard to say, with so few comparables around. Try to find another like it.
