Item Description

A superb and rare, old-time combination specimen from the famed Erzgegebirge. This very aesthetic piece is from the Type Locality area for fluorapatite (most common varietal). The sides of the complete all-around smoky quartz crystal host: very pretty, color-zoned, purple, fluorite cubes with stepped-growth faces; a nifty, parallel-growth cluster of glassy, hexagonal, grayish-green, apatite crystals; and a small scattering of lustrous, translucent, brown, siderite rhombs. Very nearly pristine. The gentle cleave on the back of the quartz termination is totally out of sight. Classic, extremely showy and rare combination material from this most historic mining district. Ex John Barlow and Nelson Collections. Valued at $1600. Try to find another with these aesthetics and combination. Mounted in a custom-made, baked clay base.
