Item Description

A superb and rare pyrite crystal from the ancient iron mines at Rio Marina. This superb, floater, pyrite crystal appears to be a rare for the locale, trapezohedron, with all of the many faces. It has mirror-bright luster and rich, bronzy color. The crystal jumps out at you from every face. Essentially pristine, with only the most trivial of corner bruising and contacting. Specimens from this stope, with modern mining from the early 1800s to 1962, are RARE. Ex Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection and obtained from a Rio Marina collection in 1965. An ultimate and very rare in this form Elba Island classic.
