Item Description
A superb, large, golden-amber calcite crystal from the famous and now-closed Elmwood Mine. This gorgeous crystal is doubly terminated and has an incredibly prominent twining plane. The transparent, gemmy, rich golden-amber terminations on this piece are what makes Elmwood calcites among the most desirable calcites in the world and this is an exceptional example. Complete all-around, with only a bit of contacting on the middle of the back and at the base of the crystal. The very faintest of bruising (wilburs) are noted on the terminations. You have to look hard to see it. The accompanying card has a 1980 $350 price of the piece. This was EXPENSIVE in the day. Ex Zukowski Collection and very choice material from his collection. Valued at $2500-2750 and worth it.
