Item Description
A SUPERB, CABINET calcite specimen from the Sweetwater Mine and George Feist Collection. This DOUBLY TERMINATED, 11.6 cm, gemmy, amber calcite scalenohedron is aesthetically set on sulfide matrix covered with galena, dolomite and chalcopyrite. The glassy, 3-sided prism has OUTSTANDING, stepped-growth faces. The termination is very gemmy and the piece is very nearly pristine, with only infinitesimal edgewear on one spot. Ex George Feist Collection. Fairly valued at $900-1200. We have seen thousands of Sweetwater (Milliken) Mine calcites over the years. This one is definitely one of the best, with superb size, form and quality and well worth the money. George Fiest had one of the finest, most noted collections of Midwest minerals, after all.
