Item Description
A classic, exceptional and sculptural combination minature from the famous Leonard Mine at Butte. Nearly matte charcoal-gray digenite has coated striking parallel-growth clusters of flattened chalcocite plates (which may be pseudomorphs after covellite plates). Bruising on one edge reveals the bright iridescent lustre of the chalcocite. The coated plates are very aestheticaly set on the starkly contrasting needle quartz matrix and the tiny 5 mm cluster of iridescent pyritohedrons is a super accent. See the fine Mineralogical Record Butte Special Issue, 2002, Vol. 33, Nol 1. Old-time, superb and classic combination material from the Phil Scalisi Collection. Valued at $1400 and well worth it. Very uncommon in this combination quality and has two fine display views.
