Item Description
A dramatic, old-time, CABINET, galena specimen from the famed Joplin Field of Missouri. This superior specimen is richly and very attractively covered with striking, lustrous, isolated, cuboctahedral galena crystals to 2.7 cm on chert matrix. The octos are superb examples of the "fortification style" or galena epitaxial on galena. The second-generation galena crystals encrust the galena crystals and give these totally incredible patterns, including strongly hoppered and cavernous crystals. All of the many galena crystals are pristine, including all of the large crystals, except for trivial periphery wear to small galena crystals on the lower right and back, upper left. The back is sprinkled with tiny, gemmy, rubyjack sphalerite crystals as a bonus! One of the most aesthetic larger Tri-State galenas we have offered at auction, really defined by the isolated crystals.
