The Round Mountain Gold Mine of Nevada has produced some superb crystallized gold specimens and this is an outstanding example. This piece is not leaf gold, rather it is crystallized gold in the form of a leaf, an important distinction. Amazing, discrete, bright, mellow gold octahedrons cover one side of the sculptural leaf of rhyolite matrix, except on the upper edge, where the crystals are piled atop each other. The "B" side is covered entirely with bright, tiny, gold octahedrdons. This is certainly one of the more striking and sharply crystallized Round Mountain golds, that you will see!
