This is a select Colorado Aquamarine, originally labeled as Teller County (Kay;'s attribution from 30 years ago, before MINDAT) but almost certainly Mt. Antero according to experts we showed it to, and the online archives. The color, gemminess, and luster on this 34-gram crystal are all outstanding, and the termination is almost split in half by a secondary slender Aquamarine crystal hanging atop the "split" termination. The aesthetics are excellent, with Colorado Aquas of this quality being quite rare and in high demand. This is large, gemmy, intensely colored much more than they usually are; and complete. It would clean up dramatically in the lab, removing some brown stain and increasing the luster by removing some surface coating, but I liked the old, antique look of this piece. Also, the old mine-run coatings help to prove that it is not Pakistani or some other location. This is actually a quite important USA specimen! ex George Holloway collection (another well known LA area collector and friend of ours, who is still active today), and dated to Kay Robertson's 1960s-era acquisitions.
