Item Description
Lovely pink Smithsonites from the great Tsumeb Mine are a signature variation of this species that occur at their best from this mine and that catches the eye and captures the imagination. The crystals here are classic for the locality, with slightly curved faces and a rich, pearly luster. The crystals range up to 6 mm on edge, have a rich, almost metallic-pink color, and they cover much of the matrix on the presentation side. Tsumeb is renowned for great Smithsonites such as this aesthetic small cabinet piece. With the mine closed for good, treasures like this are getting harder and harder to acquire. THis is really aesthetic! valued 2000-plus. From our special collection sale, direct to auction, of choice material from the collection of Richard Rossi, East Coast collector and Mineralogical Record Fellow.
