superb Biotite Mica on Calcite

Item Description

A sharp and well defined crystal of black-brown Biotite is set adroitly on a matrix of salmon-pink Calcite from Namibia. The Biotite has perfect pseudohexagonal shape (monoclinic crystal system) and measures 3.8 cm across. It has sharply formed edges and a very nice, broad face at the front that has several geometric growth patterns that add interest and aesthetics. The Biotite "book", as they often refer to them, sits perfectly on large, subhedral crystal sections of translucent, salmon-pink Calcite for exemplary balance and composition. An extremely display-worthy specimen for a common rock forming mineral!
