Item Description
One of the most exceptional things I have seen from the United States is Sunstone from Oregon. This material comes in a myriad of colors ranging from yellow, orange, red, green and even blue in rare cases. Aside from the the extremely rare blue variety, the most hard to find color of this material is red, but bicolor gems of this material are exceptionally rare as well. This stone is a superb quality, rare, nearly eye clean "Modified Trapezoid Brilliant" cut gem. When viewed through the pavillion, this stone has a beautiful rich pinkish-orange color on one side, and an intense blue-green zone on the other side, making the gem all the more impressive! To find a bicolor Sunstone gem with such saturation is exceptionally rare the gem world! This is a unique, attractive, and highly sought after bicolor gem for any collector Many of the stones from this area have what is called a "shiller" which is a shimmer in the stone created by micro inclusions of metallic Copper. This stone features a strong patch of shiller on the orange end of the gem, looks amazing in any kind of light. These gems are becoming very difficult to find in any size or quantity for reasonable prices on the market, so don't miss out on this one. This stone was custom faceted by Allyce Kosnar of www.kosnargemco.com in July of 2012. High retail value on this gem is $886.50. A fantastic and beautiful stone of this classic US material.
