Item Description
One of the most exceptional things I have seen from the United States is Sunstone from Oregon. This material is actually Labradorite Feldspar. This material comes in a myriad of colors ranging from yellow, orange, red, green and even blue in rare cases. Here we have a two-stone matched pair of "Checkerboard Round" cut Sunstones from Oregon. The color is these gems is caused by a presence of Copper, which gives an amazing range to the color spectrum of this material. The color is a soft peachy-pink hue, and not the common "champagne" tone that we're used to seeing in this material. The stones also have a slight amount of the highly desirable "shiller", which is an internal shimmer in the stones which is caused by micro metallic Copper inclusions. Many collectors and dealers consider this "shiller" to be a valuable aspect of fine Oregon Sunstones. This is a truly beautiful set from this great U.S. locality, and to find gem quality Feldspar from any locality is very rare indeed. A great set for a pair of earrings or as a wonderful addition to your gem collection.
