One of the most exceptional things I have seen from the United States is Sunstone from Oregon. This material comes in a myriad of colors ranging from yellow, orange, red, green and even blue in rare cases. Aside from the the extremely rare blue variety, the most hard to find color of this material is red. This stone is a superb quality, rare, nearly eye clean "Modified Square Brilliant" cut gem. When viewed through the pavillion, this stone has a beautiful rich orange red color throughout the body of the gem. To find a Sunstone gem with such saturation is exceptionally rare the gem world! This is a unique, attractive, and highly sought after stone for any collector Many of the stones from this area have what is called a "shiller" which is a shimmer in the stone created by micro inclusions of metallic Copper. This stone amazingly is eye-clean and looks dazzling in any kind of light.
