Item Description
One of the most exceptional things I have seen from the United States is Sunstone from Oregon. This material comes in a myriad of colors ranging from yellow, orange, red, green and even blue in rare cases. Aside from the the extremely rare blue variety, the most hard to find color of this material in good size stones is red. This superb quality, hard to find, very good sized stone has a warm peach-orange hue and really sparkles in the light. It is not very common to find Oregon Sunstone with any strong color, as over 90% of this material displays only the "champagne" hue, so to find any hint of color is a big deal, let alone such great saturation like this gem. The cut on this stone is a "Modified Pear" cut and was faceted by Allyce Kosnar of Kosnar Gem Co (www.kosnargemco.com) in January of 2011. Typically, many of the stones from this area have what is called a "shiller" which is a shimmer in the stone caused by Copper inclusions, and is highly sought after by collectors. This stone has a brilliant array of shiller and is really attractive in person. This material is becoming very difficult to find in any size or quantity on the market, so don't miss out on this one. The high end retail value on this gem is $2660. Enjoy.
