Item Description

Sunstone is defined as gem grade Feldspar, originally said to be only Labradorite, but analysis has shown that the various species of Sunstone include Labradorite, Microcline, Andesine and Oligoclase which contain some kind of metallic inclusions like Hematite, Ilmenite or even Copper. Fine gems are only found in a handful on localities around the world, and India has been producing excellent Sunstones for decades. They are some of the most famous Sunstones in the world, as they come in a wide variety of colors. This stone is an "Oval Cabochon" cut gem with a lively fiery orange hue from iron oxide inclusions. It shows a lovely "shiller" on the surface when rotated in the light. These stones from India stand as some of the most recognizable and attractive Sunstones on the market today, and well worth picking up if you like gem feldspars.
