Item Description

Sulphohalite, as its name would suggest, is a sodium sulfate halide species which has only found in 6 world localities (the seventh listed locality on mindat.org is questionable). Certainly the finest (and the first) specimens ever found are those from Searles Lake in San Bernardino County, California. This piece is a wonderful example of this incredibly rare species, featuring a predominant, sharp, gemmy, extremely well-formed, pale golden colored crystal measuring 2.0 cm, sitting on smaller Sulphohalite matrix. Fine quality all around, and I feel safe in saying this is the BEST thumbnail of the species that we've ever had to offer.
From the collection of Dr. Alex Schauss.
