Item Description

A classic example of the famous electric yellow colored Sulfur from Weenzen. The piece shows partially crystalline yellow Sulfur with decent gemminess on massive Gypsum matrix. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4079). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A great German classic from the famous locality. For reference, the species should now be spelled S-U-L-F-U-R as both the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry along with the British Royal Society of Chemistry adopted this spelling in the 1990s (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulfur#Spelling_and_etymology)
