Sulfur (good quality) with Celestine (ex Bill and Anne Cook Collection)

It's not common to see a Sulfur specimen of this size and quality from the Maybee Quarry, on the market, and the association with nice blue Celestine is certainly uncommon in my experience with this material, as most of the Celestine I've seen from this locality is more of the grey/white hue. This specimen hosts a beautiful glowing yellow-colored, sharp, well-formed group of crystals measuring 4.2 cm at its widest dimension associated with blue-grey colored Celestine. The front of the Sulfur group is damage free, though there are some contacts here and there on the back. I love the contrast of the yellow Sulfur against the Celestine, and it's certainly one of the largest composite groups of crystals I've seen from the locale. Priced at $1,200 in the inventory. From the collection of William ("Bill") (1927-2006) and Anne (1928-2021) Cook of Cleveland, Ohio. This husband and wife duo were actively involved in the mineral world for many decades. Bill was a PhD geologist, and Anne was a mathematician, and they both were very serious mineral collectors. Bill served for many years as adjunct curator of mineralogy at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and Anne was inducted into the Micromounters' Hall of Fame on October 12, 2019.
