Sulfur (fine skeletal crystal)

A beautiful example of the classic and eye-catching Sulfur crystals from the El Desierto Mine in Bolivia. Like virtually all of the crystals seen from this locality, this toenail sized piece features defined "hoppered" or skeletal faces, but what really sets it apart is that there are actually some well-developed, smooth, euhedral faces that can be seen as well, making a high quality example of this desirable material. The crystal is also a bit gemmy, which is not commonly seen in these specimens, so it's undoubtedly in the upper ranks when weighed against many others I've seen from this mine. A very attractive and worthwhile piece of this well-known material. This specimen comes from the lifelong worldwide thumbnail collection of Dr. Alexander ("Alex") Schauss (#54).
