Sulfur (fine classic crystals)

Item Description

A beautiful and fine quality small cabinet sized specimen of the famous, classic electric yellow colored Sulfur crystals from Cianciana, Sicily, Italy. This piece host several excellent, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, glowing yellow color, textbook crystals of Sulfur on white Aragonite matrix. The largest Sulfur measures 2.1 cm at its longest dimension and very gemmy when backlit. The piece has no major damage that I can find with the naked eye. A really showy and excellent quality display specimen of what are the most famous Sulfur crystals in the world. Priced at $1,800 in the inventory. For reference, this species should be spelled S-U-L-F-U-R (not sulphur) as both the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry along with the British Royal Society of Chemistry adopted this spelling in the 1990s (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulfur#Spelling_and_etymology). Wikipedia also states that, "Sulfur is derived from the Latin word sulpur, which was Hellenized to sulphur in the erroneous belief that the Latin word came from Greek."
