Item Description

Transparent, golden-yellow, textbook orthorhombic sulfur crystals to 2.3 cm are scattered on this aesthetic specimen from a very well-known Sicilian sulfur mine. The drusy matrix is stained by bituminous material. The piece displays beautifully without aid, as the base has been sawed. All of the sulfur crystals are pristine. Excellent material from the Herb Obodda dealer stock and valued by him at $450, five or more years ago. An excellent article in the March-April, 2012 Mineralogical Record covers the Sicily sulfur mines.
