Item Description

Gemmy and lustrous bright lemon-yellow sulfur crystals, to 9 mm, and clusters of tiny glassy, bone-white celestine blades dramatically cover this impressive large mounded 3-dimensional specimen from the well-known extinct sulfur mines of Enna Province, Sicily. The underlying matrix is massive sulfur. Ex Al Kidwell Collection and acquired from Rossano Carlini in 1980. Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas. The phosphate species Kidwellite was named in his honor in 1974. An excellent, very rich and classic highly representative large 360-degree combination example of the species and locale.
