Sulfur

Sulfur as a native element has been known for thousands of years. Historically it was referred to as "brimstone", and according to Wikipedia it is, " the tenth most abundant element by mass in the universe and the fifth most abundant on Earth". Here we have beautiful and fine quality full-sized cabinet sized specimen of the famous, classic electric yellow colored Sulfur crystals from the El Desierto Mine in the salt flats of Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia. This piece host a coverage of excellent, sharp, highly lustrous, well-formed, glowing yellow color, crystals on matrix. The largest crystal measures 2.6 cm, and shows elongated pyramidal growth. A few rough spots can be seen, but the major crystals are all in fine shape. You don't see a lot of piece of this size with such fine crystals and good aesthetics, so don't miss out. A really showy and excellent quality display specimen of what are some of the most well-known Sulfur crystals in the world. For reference, this species should be spelled S-U-L-F-U-R (not sulphur) as both the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry along with the British Royal Society of Chemistry adopted this spelling in the 1990s (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulfur#Spelling_and_etymology). Wikipedia also states that, "Sulfur is derived from the Latin word sulpur, which was Hellenized to sulphur in the erroneous belief that the Latin word came from Greek."
