Sugilite is a rare lithium silicate and this showy piece is essentially SOLID sugilite, which is very uncommon. Purple sugilite microcrystals and crudely crystallized massive sugilite comprise this entire mounded specimen on this showy and excellent specimen from the famous Wessels Mine of South Africa. This sugilite varietal is very desirable and hard to obtain today.
