Item Description

A beautiful, hard to find and classic example of eye-catching purple Sugilite from the N'Chwaning III Mine featuring rich colored semi-fibrous crystals and crystalline areas covering the underlying matrix. It's easy to see why this material is so popular and sought after as this fantastic color really draws one's attention. When you combine with the color with the rarity of this material it makes for some truly special mineral specimens. You just don't see many of these on the market now, and if you collect rarities, it's a great chance to pick up a piece of this alluring material from this famous locality. For reference, this species is almost always mispronounced as "Soo-jill-ite", but it was named after Ken-ichi Sugi, and should properly be pronounced "Soo-ghee-lite with a hard "g" as in "grip". This one came to us from a dealer's inventory that we purchased with a price tag of $900 on it.
