Item Description

A classic example of intense reddish-purple Sugilite (pronounced with a hard "g") featuring small "needle"-like prisms on matrix. The species was named after Ken-ichi Sugi, and if almost always mispronounced, but should properly be said with a hard "g" as in "grand". The Wessels Mine has produced what are the finest examples of the species extant, although fine micro crystals exist from places like the Cerchiara Mine in Liguria, Italy.
