Sturmanite

Item Description

Here we have a beautiful specimen of the rare calcium iron sulfate species, Sturmanite from the N'Chwaning II Mine in the Kalahari Manganese Field of South Africa. Keep in mind that this species has only been reported from a handful of localities in South Africa, and the Lakargi Mountain in Russia, and nowhere else in the world. The piece is filled with a rich drusy of vibrant yellow colored hexagonal crystals of Sturmanite, which are best seen under magnification. You can see in the photos we've provided that there are hundreds of tiny gemmy crystals that have a glowing yellow hue, which are sitting on a slab of grey-black manganese-bearing matrix.
