Item Description

The zoned granitic phosphate pegmatites at Hagendorf were worked mainly for feldspar and are renowned for their wealth of rare phosphate species. It is the Type Locality for strunzite. Sprays of straw-yellow needles to about 7 mm fill numerous vugs on all sides of the large sculptural gossan matrix on this very rich and excellent example of the species. Probably older material, from the 1960s or 1970s. This is a large, rich specimen with an old price tag on it of $250 from Western Minerals
