Item Description

The Minerva No. 1 Mine is one of the most famous localities in the United States, known mainly for its outstanding Fluorite crystals. However, it also has produced excellent examples of other minerals, such as Strontianite, which is a rare carbonate and one of only a handful of known strontium minerals. This select specimen features long, acicular needles bundled together in bouquet-like fans. Most Strontianite crystals from this locality average around 1-2 cm, but the crystals on this specimen reach 4 cm. The gentle blue tint combined with the elegant form make for a superb example of the species. From the noted historic classics collection of Richard 'Dick' Hauck of New Jersey. Dick has/had a large and superb suite of really interesting USA classics! this is probably from finds in the 1980s. Valued highly , as this is a really robust and rare size and style.
