Strontianite (fine classic material)

Item Description

A wonderful miniature sized specimen from the Oberdorf magnesite deposit in Austria, the premier locality in for Strontianite in the world. This showy and aesthetic specimen features a prominent 3.0 cm group of translucent, gorgeous soft orange-pink orthorhombic Strontianite crystals sitting atop a layer of white Magnesite matrix. The Strontianite group is undamaged as far as I can see with the naked eye. The crystals are also rather lustrous, which isn't always the case with this material, and they don't have that irritating brown coating that so many from this locality can have (which is nearly impossible to remove without destroying the underlying Strontianite). Valued highly for the quality, overall displayability and size. He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased.
