Strontianite specimens from the Oberdorf area of Austria are renowned for their quality and this is an excellent example from the Al Ordway Collection. Such nicely colored pieces with real form, and not just thin plates, are highly desired and fetch good prices in Europe at the shows there, in particular. The knobby crystal clusters, with fine color, translucence and luster, are composed of a myriad of radiating, stepped-growth, sharply hexagonal crystals.
