Item Description

Stringhamite is an exceptionally rare hydrated calcium copper silicate, only found in seven mines in the world! The species was named in 1974 after Bronson Ferrin Stringham the head of the Department of Mineralogy at the University of Utah. This piece is from the type locality for the species, the Bawana Mine in southwestern Utah. Several sides of the specimen feature rich azure blue patches of Stringhamite associated with green Brochantite on host rock matrix. A must have specimen for any fan of rarities, as specimens of Stringhamite are virtually non-existent on the market today. This piece comes with a classic label from noted rarities dealer Josef Vajdák / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value.
