Item Description

An insanely dramatic and sculptural large calcite from Colorado's famed Idarado Mine. Manganese oxides cover most of this impressive piece. The striking 12.8 cm doubly terminated calcite looks like a camouflaged anti-ballistic missile set on its launcher! The larger crystals are set on the launcher field of dogtooth calcites. Complete all-around the large crystal is nearly pristine, with just a bit of edge wear. Two of the attached crystals having broken ends, but have little impact to the very high quality of this piece. The dogtooth base is amazingly essentially pristine! The uncoated calcite fluoresces pink, as you would expect. A surreal, important and rare Idarado calcite, as calcite and manganese oxide combinations are RARE. Value?? A MUST for the Colorado or species collector.
