strange Elbaite with "Tourmaline hair"

A weird-looking elbaite crystal from this well-known pegmatite, which comes out in this style occasionally. The lustrous, well-striated, tabular prism is very dark purple with a bit of green. Strikingly, the termination has never "solidified" into a 3-axis symmetry and tourmaline grew out in extended hairlike crystals like soft fibers! I am told these are truly tourmaline crystals, although they extend dramatically on the c axis and for some reason do not congeal into a smooth termination. Very interesting pocket formation! Those are yellow iron oxides on the exterior. 18 grams mass. Value of such a rarity?? We see them only rarely on the market.
