Item Description
Stottite and ludlockite are two of the ULTRA RARE mineral species, for which the famous and now-closed, Tsumeb Mine is renowned. It is also the Type Locality for both species. The rich piece of rare germanite ore hosts a small vug, that is lined with bundles of brilliant, reddish-orange ludlockite hairs and a 2 mm, gemmy, brown, tetragonal stottite crystal. This crystal is brilliantly lustrous and easily eye visible. ANY STOTTITE IS A GOOD STOTTITE, my mentors always taught me. I have seen only a half dozen valid ones go by - they are rare. This is a EXCELLENT combination of the rarities and came from the one-time find at the 30 Level. Well-Crystallized Stottite is UNIQUE to Tsumeb. VERY HIGHLY representative of these 3 rarities and famous locale. ANY stottite specimen should be worth $500-1000. The ludlockites are a SERIOUS BONUS. Ex Rob Smith Collection. Value together, I think $750-900 not unfair
