Item Description

A fantastic cabinet sized specimen of Stolzite from the type locality at Zinnwald on the border of Saxony, Germany and Bohemia, Czech Republic. Dozens of superb quality, soft brown colored "rosettes" of Stolzite measuring up to about 1 mm across are sitting on Smoky Quartz matrix. The Stolzites are best viewed under magnification, but they are some of the best I've seen from the locality. A great historic specimen of this old classic material from the first place it was ever found. Priced at $750 in the inventory. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8075). The label accompanying the piece states that the piece was purchased from the Cisneros German collection in 1977, and was mined prior to 1939. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
