Item Description

This piece came labeled as coming from a place called Curea, which is located in the municipality of Yecora in the Mexican state of Sonora. I can't find a listing for any minerals coming from this locality, but I believe the locality is valid, and the piece probably came from a very small or isolated find. The piece features sharp, well-formed, lustrous, white colored "sword-shaped" crystals of Stilbite measuring up to 2.7 cm long associated with slightly white / colorless pearly crystals of Heulandite in a partial vug matrix. Additionally, the Stilbites show a bright green fluorescence under UV light, which is not common in my experience. If you collect zeolites or Mexican minerals, don't miss out on this one. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6961). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
