Item Description
A classic combination of Stilbite with Datolite from the now extinct Prospect Park Quarry in the New Jersey trap rocks. This locality existed since the early 1990s and closed fairly recently as it was filled in to make way for a housing development. This piece is a wonderful association specimen hosting rich golden-brown colored "sheaf"-like crystals of Stilbite (presumably Stilbite-Ca) measuring up to 2.3 cm long, associated with gemmy/translucent, beautiful light apple green colored Datolite crystals measuring up to 1.7 cm. There are some contacts and areas of roughness that you can see with the naked eye, so the piece is not undamaged, but the contrast of the two minerals together is quite eye-catching. Get these while they're available, because once a locality is gone, specimens almost always dry up quickly on the market.
