Stilbite with Celadonite inclusions

A radially composed and interesting "flower" of unusual green stilbite, from India , the rare color casued by minute inclusions of celadonite. Tis is a particualrly elegant and beautiful example of this rare style and color, with som eluster to it (normally they are dull or matte finished), and a balanced three dimensional shape. It is perfect, complete, and pristine all around - a floater! One small heulandite crystal colored a lighter pea-green, sticks off one side and acts as a stand to orient the piece at some angles. Sold to Jack from the collection of former Smithsonian curator, John White ( who collected floaters and perfect crystals for decades, among his other activities such as founding the Mineralogical Record!). Whiel such specimens turn up today time to time, they seem not to have this nice luster or robustly saturated color, and I value this specimen a lot more highly than its modern counterparts. It is beautiful and unusual! We are truly honored to present this specimen from another lot of deaccessions from the collection of Jack Halpern of San Francisco, as featured in the Mineralogical Record, March 2005.
