Stilbite with Calcite (ex Rich Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

This specimen was collected by Richard Kosnar in 1963, before he graduated from high school. He had almost exclusive access to the quarry at the time, and was able to collect some unique and interesting specimens (including some of the most well known Greenockites from the Western Hemisphere) over several years time. This piece features many crystallized "ball"-shaped aggregates of lustrous golden Stilbite with soft silvery Calcite rhombs on matrix. The largest Calcite measures 1.8 cm across, and the largest Stilbite "ball" measures 8 mm. This specimen is over 50 years old, and it's a cool piece of history and NJ mineral collecting.
