Stilbite vug (RARE old classic)

Item Description

Mineral specimens from this small uninhabited island in the middle of the Bay of Fundy are EXTREMELY RARE. MINDAT lists the locality and mineral species found there, but there are NO photo examples of the Zeolites, copper species and quartz varietals. A striking and impressive two-sided basalt vug is richly filled with nubby spherical clusters of lustrous, translucent, creamy stilbite blades. The hole in the vug and the broken spheroid on one side reveals the radial growth of the stilbite blades, adding pizzazz. From an East Coast collection and comes with a century-old water-stained, faded and torn label. Rare, perhaps UNIQUE stilbite from this most obscure Nova Scotia locale.
