Stilbite Subgroup with Epidote

Item Description

The Kayes Region of Mali is known to collectors for producing some iconic specimens of Prehnite and Epidote, but occasionally a few other minerals have been found, including some striking Stilbites. This piece is from Diaboukara, which is well-known for its attractive Stilbite specimens, and this piece is a great example featuring several light golden-yellow colored radiating spherical aggregates measuring up to 3.1 cm at the longest dimension, which are partially enveloping a single dark greenish-black prismatic crystal of Epidote, and associated with a bit of weather pale green Prehnite at the base. There are some contacted areas along the periphery where the piece was separated from the pocket wall, but it's still a showy and good quality example of these elusive Stilbites.
