Stilbite Subgroup (uncommon locality)

Item Description

A fairly hard to find specimen of Stilbite (Stilbite Subgroup) from an undisclosed locality in Skamania County, Washington, likely mined circa 1970s. The piece is a fine quality, big, showy cabinet display specimen featuring many "sheaf"-like aggregates of soft salmon-pink colored Stilbite measuring up to 4.8 cm, sitting on minor matrix. The crystals are lustrous and well-formed, and most of them are undamaged. The largest group is an attractive "bow tie"-shaped group. If you collect zeolites or minerals from the Pacific Northwest, this is something that you're not likely to find on the market, especially in a robust cabinet sized example.
From the worldwide mineral collection of Albert Lewis Kidwell (January 1, 1919 - August 16, 2008). Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas. The phosphate species Kidwellite was named in his honor in 1974.
