Item Description

A fascinating and RARE old-time specimen of New York City urban geology! Pumpkin-orange bundles of stilbite crystals are aesthetically set in the vug on the matrix sliver. According to the label of the Gilman S. Stanton Collection of the New York Mineralogical Club, the specimen was obtained by him in 1915 and came from the east side of Manhattan subway dump in the Bronx. His handwritten note on the back states, that the piece probably is from the 4th Avenue Manhattan Parkway excavation originally. Such old-time documented material is RARELY available. From the Carmichael collection.
